Week 38: Gates of Norway... and Other Places

The book-of-the-week for Week 38 is Gates of Norway... and Other Places. This book is a collection of photographs taken during a trip to Norway in the 90's and several trips to France over the last 10 years. The imagery is primarily gates and doorways...  The theme is adventure and discovery.

The book structure is the Hedi Kyle "blizzard" book structure which is based on accordion folds with additional right angle folds on the edges so the stiff pages slip in and out without need for binding or glue. Plain white 90-weight paper was used for the accordion spine and photography paper was used for the images. There are no cover boards. The photographs simply slip into the angled edges of the spine piece and are held in by tension. This way, they can be removed and exchanged for other photographs if the story changes.

abandoned doors and busy doors...
indoor and outdoor doors
two red doors
a castle and a barn...
a cafe and a cathedral...
beginning and end... the unexpected happens
